Chocolate

We have presented this list of toxic dog food with our favorite chocolate. But how can dogs live without chocolate? Yes, they can, and really should. Chocolate is one of the most toxic products for dogs, as it contains a substance called theobromine, which their body cannot eliminate. This can cause cardiovascular problems and dilation in the bronchi.

Symptoms that the dog shows when eating chocolate are vomiting, dehydration, intestinal pain and nervousness. A large dose of chocolate can cause a dog to fall into a coma and even death. If your dog eats chocolate, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Onion and garlic – forbidden food for dogs

Another highly toxic dog food is onions. It contains a substance called disulfides, which damage red blood cells, causing anemia, weakness and breathing problems. In large doses, it can be fatal.

The same goes for garlic, it also damages red blood cells. It belongs to the same food family as onions, but it is even more harmful, its toxicity level is higher. In addition, its effects do not appear immediately, but gradually they color the dog’s urine between orange and red. Garlic is a prohibited food for dogs because it can cause serious and permanent kidney damage due to loss of hemoglobin.

Cooked bones, also forbidden for dogs!

We have already mentioned in some articles about the possible presence of bones in dog diets. In them we tell you that the raw bones of some animals are good for dogs, but the bones are not cooked. This can be very dangerous because when cooking, they lose moisture and harden, which contributes to splitting when the dog bites them, which can lead to suffocation and injury. They can also get stuck during the digestion process, and surgery is required to remove them. Never give bones to your pet!

Milk is very bad for your furry friend

Even if it seems to be a staple food and you consume it every day, no animal other than us continues to drink milk after weaning. And they will drink much less milk from other animals! Dogs do not have an enzyme that is necessary for good absorption of lactose, even many of them are intolerant of it, so milk is one of the prohibited dog foods.

Like natural milk, other dairy products, such as cheese or yogurt, are also not recommended for dogs. They can cause intestinal discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting, gas and even pancreatitis if the dog takes a lot of milk or has a habit of eating it often.

If you want to give your pet a good dose of calcium, there are other alternatives, such as calcium tablets specifically designed for consumption by dogs. Consult with your veterinarian.

Boiled ham and other dried meat

Processed meat, like dried meat, is a very toxic dog food. They have a high salt content, which causes dehydration by increasing water consumption. There is a disease associated with the use of this type of food, called “bloating“, in which the dog suffers from inflammation in the abdomen and may even die.

Macadamia nuts banned for dogs

Macadamia nuts with a high phosphorus content are very toxic to dogs. Consumption of these nuts can lead to the formation of gallstones.

Avocado, maximum toxicity for your pet

Another highly toxic dog food is avocado. This is due to one of the substances called peaches, in addition to its high fat content. Eating avocado by a dog can cause problems with the pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, difficulty breathing. In addition, they may not digest the pulp well, and it gets stuck, and surgery is required to eliminate it.

Beware of grapes!

Both fresh grapes and raisins are very toxic food for dogs. Perhaps one of the most toxic on this list. Grapes can cause acute kidney failure, in addition to other symptoms that may vary from dog to dog, but vomiting and diarrhea, lethargy, dehydration are common… It is not known what kind of grape substance causes this disease in dogs, but if the diet is high, the dog may even die in a few days.

No coffee

It’s unlikely that anyone would even consider giving coffee to their dog, but who knows? There are people for everything. Caffeine can literally kill your dog. Never give your dog anything that contains yeast, because it is very toxic. It can spread in the stomach and produce many gases that are harmful to the digestive system.
